Made At Budget Of Rs. 170 Crore, Baby John Struggles at Box Office Finally Crosses ₹35 Crore On Day 8

Despite an extended holiday release, Varun Dhawan’s action thriller Baby John fails to gain momentum at the box office, showing minimal growth in its second week.

January 2, 2025: Varun Dhawan’s much-anticipated action thriller Baby John, co-starring Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi, continues to face an uphill battle at the box office. Despite being released during the lucrative Christmas holiday season, the film has failed to sustain audience interest or generate significant revenue.

Box Office Performance So Far

According to Sacnilk.com, Baby John managed to collect ₹2.87 crore on its eighth day. The total box office collection now stands at ₹35.52 crore. The film opened decently with ₹11.25 crore on its first day but witnessed a sharp drop in collections in the following days.

The film has struggled to cross double-digit figures since its opening day, and its growth trajectory appears weak even after the extended holiday weekend. In comparison, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule performed significantly better, raking in around ₹12.63 crore on the same day.

Mixed Reviews and Audience Reception

Baby John, a remake of Vijay’s Tamil blockbuster Theri, received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. While Varun Dhawan’s performance earned some praise, the overall execution and storyline failed to create the desired impact.

An excerpt from Hindustan Times’ review stated:
“The film starts off on a very choppy note, and there’s no soul for about 40 minutes. There’s no sense of direction, and the cute girl bossing around her dad has no effect. Atlee, who has earlier delivered Jawan as a director and Theri as well, is responsible for the story here. The hero playing a double role seems to be his favourite.”

Future Outlook

With competition from Pushpa 2 and upcoming big-ticket releases, Baby John faces an uphill battle to recover its production costs. As it enters its second week, the film’s fate at the box office seems sealed unless it witnesses an unexpected surge in collections.
