Mukesh Chhabra debunks rumours, says lead role not finalised yet

Recent reports linking names like Kiara Advani and Aneet Padda to the lead role were dismissed, leaving fans curious about who will eventually portray the iconic star. Addressing the rumours, casting director Mukesh Chhabra clarified that the casting process has not even begun, despite multiple “final” names circulating online.
The biopic, announced in 2024, will be directed by Jasmeet K Reen, known for Darlings starring Alia Bhatt. The project is backed by Sony Pictures Entertainment along with other production houses. While there have been reports of Sanjay Leela Bhansali being associated as a producer, no official confirmation has been made regarding the film’s cast.
Madhubala remains one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated stars, known for classics like Mughal-e-Azam, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, and Howrah Bridge. Starting as a child artist, she rose to become one of the highest-paid actors of her time.
