Madonna, Elton John “Finally Buried The Hatchet”, End Decade-Long Feud

April 8, 2025: Madonna and Elton John have officially ended their long-standing feud, which had been a subject of public interest for over two decades. The iconic pop star took to Instagram on Monday to share the exciting news with her fans, revealing that the two music legends had finally reconciled.

The feud between Madonna and Elton John began in the early 2000s, primarily due to a series of critical comments made by Elton. One of the most notable instances was in 2002 when Elton took a jab at Madonna’s James Bond theme song, “Die Another Day.” The situation escalated further in 2004 when Elton insulted her at the Q Awards, questioning her nomination for Best Live Act. Elton famously remarked, “Madonna, best live act? Fuck off. Since when has lip-syncing been live?” These comments sparked years of tension between the two.

However, it appears that the ice has finally been broken. Over the weekend, Madonna attended Elton John’s performance on Saturday Night Live (SNL) with Brandi Carlile. After the show, Madonna went backstage, where Elton John immediately apologized, saying, “Forgive me.” Madonna shared the heartwarming moment with her followers in a heartfelt Instagram post.

In her message, she reflected on how Elton John’s music had a profound impact on her as a teenager. She recalled sneaking out to see him perform live in Detroit, an experience that changed the course of her life. “It was an unforgettable performance that helped me understand the transformative power of music,” she wrote. Madonna also expressed the emotional toll of knowing that someone she had always admired publicly criticized her as an artist.

Madonna continued, “It hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist. I didn’t understand it.” But she noted that after hearing of Elton’s performance on SNL, she decided to attend, and the meeting backstage allowed them to finally bury the hatchet.

Elton John, too, acknowledged the moment and shared Madonna’s post on his Instagram Story, calling their reunion a “healing moment.” The two musical icons have clearly moved past their past differences, with Elton releasing a new album Who Believes in Angels with Brandi Carlile, while Madonna is working on Confessions 2, a follow-up to her successful 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor.

This reconciliation marks the end of an era of tension between two of the world’s biggest music stars and could signal a new chapter in their relationship, both personally and professionally.
