Maharashtra Cyber Cell Records Apoorva Makhija's Statement In 'India's Got Latent' Controversy

February 26, 2025: Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the YouTube show India's Got Latent, Maharashtra's Cyber Cell has recorded the statement of popular social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, known as The Rebel Kid. This move follows an FIR filed earlier this month, accusing Makhija, along with YouTubers Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others involved in the show, of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions.

The controversy surrounding India's Got Latent escalated after a remark by Ranveer Allahbadia during an episode went viral. Allahbadia's question to a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents... or join in once and stop it forever?” was criticized for being offensive and inappropriate. The comment sparked backlash on social media, with users expressing outrage over the sexually explicit nature of the discussion.

In response to the controversy, Allahbadia issued a public apology. Acknowledging the inappropriate nature of his comments, he admitted the remark was not only offensive but lacked humor. Allahbadia, who is known for his podcasting and social media presence, expressed regret for his lapse in judgment, particularly for the potential negative impact on his younger audience. He promised to be more responsible with his platform moving forward, stating that family would always be something he would never disrespect.

Meanwhile, Chanchlani and Allahbadia both approached the Maharashtra Cyber Cell to record their statements. As of now, the police have reportedly summoned over 30 individuals for questioning related to the case. However, comedian and YouTuber Samay Raina, who hosted the show, has yet to have his statement recorded.

The controversy highlights the increasing scrutiny of online content, especially on platforms like YouTube, where influencers often engage in discussions that may appeal to young audiences. The matter continues to evolve as the Maharashtra Cyber Cell investigates further.
