‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ Roars Past Records, Becomes India’s Highest-Grossing Animated Film

With Hindi net collections crossing ₹126 crore, the mythological animated film by Ashwin Kumar has beaten international blockbusters to set a new benchmark for Indian animation.

August 9, 2025: Ashwin Kumar’s debut animated feature film, Mahavatar Narsimha, has done very well at the box office. It is now the most popular animated movie ever made in India. A lot of people are excited about the magnificent epic that came out on July 25 because it tells the story of Lord Vishnu’s fourth avatar in a fresh way.

The movie made roughly ₹1.75 crore net on its first day, but it gained a lot of attention since people talked about it. It did well since a lot of Hindi speakers bought it. The first week of the movie grossed ₹29 crore. It grossed an incredible ₹54 crore net in its second week, which indicates how well-known it is. By the 15th day, the movie had grossed more than ₹84 crore in net Hindi earnings and more over ₹126 crore in total net receipts. It does what it says it will do.


The movie has done better at the US box office than other well-known animated shows from other countries, such as Kung Fu Panda 4 and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This is a major step forward for Indian animation and for Ashwin Kumar, the filmmaker. The movie’s theme of bravery and not giving up has likewise touched people all around the world. By the second Friday after it came out in North America, it had made over $515,000.

The Kannada and Telugu versions of Mahavatar Narsimha have also done well, and they have raised the standard for Indian animated films. This is a great sign for the future of movies that are based on myths.
