In a gesture of profound respect for the late legendary singer Asha Bhosle, the makers of the upcoming romantic entertainer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai have decided to postpone the release of the film’s first look.
Originally scheduled for a grand reveal today, Monday, April 13, the launch has been pushed back by 24 hours as the film industry pauses to mourn the passing of the “Queen of Indipop,” who died on Sunday at the age of 92.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Tips Films issued a heartfelt statement explaining the delay. “With the passing of legendary Asha Bhosle Ji, we pause to remember a voice that shaped generations of music and emotion,” the production house shared. The first look, featuring lead stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde, is now set to debut on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
Industry Joins in Mourning
Tips Films isn’t the only major production house to halt promotional activities. Dharma Productions similarly postponed the release of the title track for the film Chand Mera Dil, starring Ananya Panday and Lakshay, which was also slated for a Monday launch. The industry-wide pause comes as celebrities and dignitaries gather at Shivaji Park in Dadar for the singer’s state funeral, scheduled for 4:00 PM today.
Clash of the Rom-Coms?
While the promotional assets are on a temporary hold, excitement remains high for the summer movie season. Interestingly, both Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Chand Mera Dil are currently eyeing a May 22, 2026 release date. While Varun Dhawan’s film was initially slated for June, reports suggest the date has been moved up, potentially setting the stage for a major box office clash between two highly anticipated romantic dramas.
