April 28, 2025: Malayalam actors Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi appeared before excise officials in Alappuzha on Monday as part of an investigation into the recent seizure of hybrid ganja worth approximately Rs 2 crore. The drugs were discovered in the possession of a woman, who allegedly claimed to have consumed drugs with both Chacko and Bhasi.

Following her statement, the excise department issued notices to the actors, prompting their questioning as part of a larger crackdown on drug-related activities in the state. This investigation has sparked further scrutiny surrounding Shine Tom Chacko, who has faced previous allegations related to drug use and misconduct.

Earlier this month, the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) issued a final warning to Chacko for his drug use and disruptive behaviour on film sets, urging him to seek professional assistance. FEFKA confirmed that Chacko had admitted to his drug use, and it was emphasized that they would not cooperate with him if he violated the terms set forth.

Shine Tom Chacko’s troubles deepened after an incident during a narcotics raid at a Kochi hotel on April 19, where he reportedly fled the scene before being apprehended by police. Chacko was later arrested but secured bail. The investigation into his involvement continues, with excise officials and police conducting further inquiries to verify his statements.
