October 14, 2024: In a recent interview on The Ranveer Show, actress Mallika Sherawat reflected on the controversy surrounding the iconic song Bheege Hont Tere from her breakout film Murder. While the song catapulted her to fame, it also sparked a significant backlash, as Mallika revealed that she was publicly shamed by a news anchor over the song’s content.
Mallika recalled an uncomfortable moment when she appeared on a news channel with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt during the promotions for Murder. “The song created such an uproar when it released. I went to a news channel, and the anchor started reciting the lyrics to me, focusing on words like ‘pyaar’. He then asked me directly, ‘Aapko sharam nahi aayi?’ (Didn’t you feel ashamed?)” Mallika recounted.

However, Mallika’s response was bold and unfiltered: “I told him, ‘Nahi, mujhe nahi aayi! Mujhe maza aya!’ (No, I didn’t feel ashamed. I had a blast!)” The actress went on to explain that they used erotica to stimulate the box office and emphasised the impact the film had.
Despite the objectification that followed her role in Murder, Mallika maintains a positive outlook, stating that her journey post-Murder was filled with fame, independence, and love from her fans. “Nothing to feel bad about. It has been a great run. Yes, there was objectification, but that happens everywhere.”
Mallika was recently seen in a supporting role in Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, a romantic comedy directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri.
