Manish Malhotra Shares Special Memory Of Dressing Michael Jackson For 1998 Bollywood Awards

March 19, 2025: Fashion designer Manish Malhotra recently shared a heartwarming throwback on Instagram, recounting his experience of styling the pop legend Michael Jackson for the Bollywood Awards in 1998. Malhotra revealed that he had only one day to create an outfit for the King of Pop, and had to do so without any measurements.

In his Instagram post, Malhotra recalled receiving a message from Kamal Dhandona and the late S P Hinduja, the sponsors of the show, asking him to dress Michael Jackson for the event in New York. He shared that he designed a shorter version of a traditional sherwani with trousers and a textured handloom shawl/stole with woven silk and brocade borders. All this was done within a day, creating a fusion of global and traditional styles.

Malhotra also posted pictures and videos of the unforgettable moment, including a picture of him posing with the music icon himself.

The designer recently started 2025 on a high note by making his debut at the Golden Globes, where he wore a custom-designed black tuxedo with a white shawl lapel and abstract detailing from his label.
