Kumar’s funeral was attended by several prominent Bollywood figures, including Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Salim Khan, Arbaaz Khan, and Prem Chopra, among others. The Bachchans, along with other close friends and family, gathered to pay their respects to the legendary “Bharat Kumar,” as he was fondly called for his influential roles in patriotic films.
The actor’s body, draped in the Indian tricolour, was escorted to the crematorium, and the ambulance carrying his mortal remains was adorned with garlands and flowers in the national colours, symbolizing his lifelong association with patriotism in Indian cinema. The tribute was a fitting reflection of his immense contribution to the country’s cinematic and cultural fabric.
Veteran actor Vindu Dara Singh shared his admiration for Kumar, acknowledging the challenges the nation faced during his era and the importance of unity in films. “There were many problems during Manoj uncle’s time… now films on unity should be made. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians are one… He (Manoj Kumar) is immortal and will always remain alive,” Vindu remarked, highlighting Kumar’s enduring impact.
Actor Rajpal Yadav, visibly moved by the loss, described Kumar as “the Vishwa Kala Ratna of India” and stated, “He is Bharat Ratna. I salute him and he is a gem of our Bollywood and will always remain a gem.” These heartfelt tributes reflected the depth of affection and respect that the industry held for Kumar.
A guard of honour was presented to the departed icon by the police, acknowledging his significant contributions both to Indian cinema and the nation. The solemn ceremony at the Vile Parle crematorium was attended by more admirers and fans who wanted to offer their final respects.
