Marvel Reunion! Robert Downey Jr. Attends Thunderbolts Premiere with Fellow MCU Stars

May 4, 2025: The highly anticipated Thunderbolts movie had its grand premiere recently, uniting several of Marvel’s biggest stars for a spectacular red carpet event. Held amidst massive fanfare, the premiere welcomed actors from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) including Robert Downey Jr., Paul Rudd, Chris Hemsworth, Simu Liu, and Winston Duke.

Hollywood celebrities Channing Tatum, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach also joined the celebration, further turning the event into a who’s who of the entertainment world.

Robert Downey Jr., who famously portrayed Iron Man, shared a playful series of photos from the premiere, where he and fellow stars posed with their arms in a “T” shape — a symbolic nod to the Thunderbolts team.

“Just wow!!! Dinner and a show with the Old Avengers. So cool, fresh, and deep. Big congrats to the New Avengers (and Bob). #Thunderbolts,” he captioned the Instagram post.

Adding to the buzz, People reported that Downey is officially returning to the MCU — but in a brand-new avatar. He is set to play the iconic villain Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. The film will feature a massive ensemble including Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tom Hiddleston, and Sebastian Stan.

As for Thunderbolts, the film brings together a team of complex, super-powered individuals tasked with working together in the absence of a unified Avengers lineup. Led by fan-favorites like Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the team is forced to unite when they cross paths with a mysterious new superhuman named “Bob.”

Directed by Jake Schreier, the cast also includes Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, and Wendell Pierce.

Thunderbolts is now playing in theatres and marks a darker, edgier chapter in the next phase of the MCU.
