Marvel Studio Confirms ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Poster Was Not Created With AI

February 5, 2025: Marvel Studios recently addressed rumors surrounding the poster for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, denying allegations that artificial intelligence (AI) was used in its creation. The striking visual, which accompanied the film’s first teaser, quickly became the center of social media speculation. Fans noted some design inconsistencies and unusual details in the poster, which led to discussions suggesting AI had played a role.

The poster features a dynamic scene with a group of 20th-century men and women standing in a crowd, waving as the Fantastic Four take flight on a superhero mission. While many fans praised the design, others pointed out oddities that raised suspicions. One fan commented on social media, “This has to be AI, right? Or am I the only one who thinks this?” Another user wrote, “Looks like AI made it,” while a third remarked, “Every poster now is with AI.”

In response, a Marvel Studios spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that no AI was used in the creation of the poster. The image, they clarified, was made using traditional design methods.

This incident follows a similar controversy involving The Brutalist, an Oscar-nominated film. Speculation arose that AI had been used to alter dialogue in the film, prompting director Brady Corbet to assert that no such technology was used. He clarified that actors Adrian Brody and Felicity Jones had worked closely with a dialect coach to perfect their Hungarian accents, with only minor adjustments made using Respeecher technology to ensure authenticity.

As for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the film is directed by Matt Shakman and stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach in lead roles. It is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
