Marvel's Thunderbolts* Storms Past ₹100 Crore at Global Box Office in Opening Weekend
May 4, 2025: Marvel Studios’ latest ensemble superhero film Thunderbolts* has made a powerful debut at the global box office, raking in ₹100 crore (approx. $12 million USD) in its opening weekend worldwide. In India, the film collected a respectable ₹5.5 crore net, as per box office data from Sacnilk.
Directed by Jake Schreier and penned by Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo, Thunderbolts* brings together some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s morally grey heroes and reformed villains in a gritty, character-driven narrative.

Early reviews have praised the film for steering away from excessive fan service and focusing more on its characters’ emotional depth. Critics note that Thunderbolts* avoids galaxy-level threats, instead making the heroes confront their personal demons — a refreshing shift in Marvel’s typical narrative formula.
“Marvel isn’t experimenting audaciously with Thunderbolts*, but they’re definitely breaking out of the mould,” reads an excerpt from one early review.
