Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’ Trailer Unveiled At Super Bowl: Release Date And First Look At Villain Sentry

February 10, 2025: The highly anticipated trailer for Marvel Entertainment’s upcoming film Thunderbolts was released during the Super Bowl on Sunday night (Monday morning in India), giving fans their first look at the action-packed movie set to hit theaters on May 2, 2025.

Directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts brings together a star-studded ensemble cast featuring Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, and Lewis Pullman. The film follows a group of misfits recruited by Sebastian Stan’s character, Winter Soldier, to protect the city in the absence of the Avengers.

The trailer introduces the villain ‘Sentry’, one of Marvel’s most powerful anti-heroes, who will play a significant role in the film. The action-packed trailer is filled with intense fight scenes and humorous moments, staying true to the Marvel formula fans know and love.

The trailer opens with a court hearing where Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character explains to a jury the importance of having a protective unit in America since the Avengers will no longer be around. This sets the stage for the recruitment of several iconic Marvel characters including Yelena, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and US Agent by Sebastian Stan’s character.

Production for Thunderbolts faced delays due to last year’s writers’ and actors’ strikes, which pushed back the release date. There were also changes to the cast, with Geraldine Viswanathan replacing Ayo Edebiri and Lewis Pullman stepping in for Steven Yeun due to scheduling conflicts.

The film is being produced by Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, with Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez, and Scarlett Johansson serving as executive producers. With its blend of dark humor, intense action, and complex characters, Thunderbolts promises to be an exciting addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
