Washington [US], December 17: Actor Mason Gooding, known for his role as Chad Meeks-Martin in Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023), is set to reprise his character in the upcoming Scream 7. The slasher sequel is scheduled for theatrical release on February 27, 2026, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Gooding will join returning star Neve Campbell and new cast members Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, and Sam Rechner. Notably, the upcoming film will be directed by Kevin Williamson, the writer of the original Scream (1996), with Guy Busick penning the screenplay.
The Scream franchise, launched in 1996 and directed by the late Wes Craven, revolutionized the horror genre with its clever satire and sharp commentary on slasher tropes. After four films under Craven, the franchise was revived in 2022 by Radio Silence, introducing a mix of legacy characters—such as Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette—alongside new blood.
The most recent entry, Scream VI (2023), achieved box office success, becoming the highest-grossing installment in the series.
In addition to Scream 7, Mason Gooding will also appear in the romantic comedy slasher Heart Eyes, directed by Josh Ruben and produced by Christopher Landon. The film features Olivia Holt, Gigi Zumbado, and Devon Sawa and is expected to release in 2025.
Spyglass Media Group will produce Scream 7, with Paramount Pictures distributing the film globally.
