Paresh Rawal, known for his iconic role as Babu Bhaiya in the beloved Hera Pheri franchise, shocked fans when he announced on social media that he would no longer be part of the film. The announcement was soon followed by Akshay Kumar, who is not only a lead actor but also the film’s producer, filing a lawsuit against Rawal seeking Rs 25 crore in damages.
In a recent interview, Johnny Lever, who starred in Hera Pheri 2, appealed to both actors to put aside their differences for the sake of the fans and the film.
“I think they should do the film. They should sit down, have a discussion, and solve the matter because fans will miss Paresh ji a lot in the film. It wouldn’t be the same fun without him. So, they should talk and find a solution. In my opinion, that’s the right thing to do,” Lever told.
Johnny Lever also confirmed his own involvement in Hera Pheri 3, saying,
“I’ve been warned that I’m already booked for Hera Pheri.”
At the trailer launch of Housefull 5, Akshay Kumar addressed the issue carefully, emphasizing his long-standing friendship with Paresh Rawal but stating that the matter would be handled legally.
“I have worked with him for the last 32 years. We are very good friends. He’s a great actor. I really admire him. But I don’t think this is the right place to talk about it. It’s a serious matter and will be handled by the court,” Kumar said.
Paresh Rawal has stated in interviews that he had informed the film’s director Priyadarshan and other actors about his decision to leave the project. However, Priyadarshan and co-star Suniel Shetty expressed their surprise and disappointment at the announcement.
The Hera Pheri franchise, beloved for its comedic timing and memorable characters, first won hearts with the original film in 2000. Its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, released in 2006, further cemented its cult status. Fans are eagerly awaiting the third installment, making the dispute all the more significant.
