MC Mary Kom Expresses Happiness After Attending Maha Kumbh
January 26, 2025: Legendary boxer and Olympic medallist MC Mary Kom expressed her joy and gratitude for being able to participate in the Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the most significant spiritual events in India.
Speaking to the media, Mary Kom praised the excellent arrangements at the Mela and shared her happiness for being a part of this monumental occasion. “I am very happy that I could be a part of this Kumbh Mela. The arrangements are so good, I have no words,” she said.
Mary Kom, a pioneer in Indian boxing, is the first female boxer to win six world titles and was the first Indian female boxer to win a gold medal at the Asian Games (2014). She also brought home a bronze medal from the London 2012 Olympics, cementing her place as one of the most decorated athletes in the country.
As the Maha Kumbh Mela continues in Prayagraj, it has drawn a record number of devotees, with over 10.80 crore people attending the sacred event by Friday. The Mela, which started on January 13, will run until February 26. It holds deep religious significance in Sanatan Dharma, with the holy dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers believed to purify the soul and absolve sins.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, is a grand celebration of spirituality, devotion, and unity, and this year’s edition is expected to host more than 45 crore visitors. Key bathing dates still to come include January 29, February 3, February 12, and February 26, each marking an important occasion in the event’s spiritual calendar.
