As the year comes to a close, we look at a new year with new beginnings, bigger earnings and meatier increments. While we hope and pray for better days, here is a look at the top earning movie super stars of 2023.
Top on the list is Shah Rukh Khan- AKA SRK.
The king of Bollywood, SRK, has given the biggest hits of 2023, after a long hiatus, with Pathan and Jawaan breaking box office records and Dunki e-route to become a successful blockbuster film. It is believed that he charges upwards of Rs. 150 to Rs. 250 Crores per film. Delhi boy, Shah Rukh Khan was born on November 02, 1965 to Meer Taj Mohammed Khan & Lateef Fatima Khan. He started his career in TV and moved to films to become one of the biggest stars of all time in Bollywood.
Rajnikanth:
The biggest star of Tollywood, with a larger than life reel persona and a pan India footprint, Rajninath is an actor and performer par excellence. With a huge, loyal fan following that throng theatres, film after film, he is believed to charge anywhere between Rs. 150 to Rs. 210 Crore per film. Primarily starring in Tamil movies, he has also worked in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Hollywood movies. He was born in Bangalore (India), and was employed as a bus conductor before becoming an actor.
Joseph Vijay:
Popularly known as just ‘Vijay’ or ‘Thalapathy’ (commander), he too is a stellar Indian actor, dancer, playback singer and philanthropist who works predominantly in Tamil film industry. This 50 year old actor, is a guarantee for box-office success and that is why he charges an astronomical Rs. 130 to Rs. 200 Crores per film.
Prabhas:
Another prominent name from South Indian films that has a nationwide fan following is actor ‘Prabhas’ of ‘Bahubali’ and ‘Adipurush’ fame. His latest offering ‘Salasaar’ is turning out to be a major hit and this has helped pump his fees to Rs. 100 to Rs. 200 Crore per film. Prabhas was born to late U. Suryanarayana Raju and Siva Kumari. His family is from Mogalturu village and later moved to bhimavaram in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. He is the youngest of three children.
Aamir Khan:
Another Khan, who needs no introduction, is the indomitable method actor Aamir Khan.
Born on March 14, 1965 in Mumbai, he is one of the most successful Indian Bollywood actors who is also known as “Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood”. With his recent successes in both the Indian and Chinese film markets, he has shouldered his way into becoming one of the world’s biggest names in the film industry universally. It is believed that he charges anywhere between Rs. 100 Crore to Rs. 175 Crore per film.
Salman Khan:
Khan after Khan after Khan! Next on our list is our very own Bhai-Salman Bhai aka, Salman Khan. Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan was born on December 27, 1965, in Mumbai to legendary screenwriter Salim Khan of writer duo Salil-Javed fame. With a loyal fan base and an image of a soft hearted action hero, he charges anywhere between Rs. 100 Crore to Rs. 150 Crore per film.
Kamal Haasan:
Kamal Hassan was born on November 7, 1954 in Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram District, Tamil Nadu. He debuted as a child artiste in the film “Kalathoor Kannamma” (1960). Since then, he has starred in nearly 220 films in major Indian languages – Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. Known as an actor who likes to experiment with his roles and films and is not afraid to speak his mind, he is also believed to charge Rs. 100 to Rs. 150 Crore per film.
Allu Arjun :
Allu Arjun nicknamed Bunny was born on April 8, 1980. His father, Allu Aravind, is a famous producer and his uncle, Chiranjeevi is one of the top actors in the Telugu industry. Also, he is the grandson of late comedian Padmashree Allu Ramalingaiah. He is known as stylish star with a huge female following. His film Pushpa has gained cult status and fans including former Australian Skipper David Warner, copy his signature moves. It is believed that he charges between Rs. 100 to Rs. 125 Crore per film.
Akshay Kumar:
Rajiv Hari “Akshay Kumar” Om Bhatia was born on September 09, 1967, in Amritsar, Punjab to Aruna Bhatia and Hari Om Bhatia. He is an Indian actor, film producer, former model, and television personality. He went to Bangkok to learn how to use the sword and also worked as a waiter in a restaurant. Known for superlative action and great comic timing, his professionalism and disciple, his producers happily pay upwards of Rs. 60 to Rs. 145 Crore per film.
Ajith Kumar:
Ajith Kumar is an Indian film actor who has worked mainly in Tamil cinema. He is one of the leading actors in Tamil Cinema. He began his career as a supporting actor in a Telugu film before gaining critical recognition in the Tamil thriller Aasai (1995). A succession of high-grossing films followed, including Hindi film English-Vinglish with late Sri Devi. Today it is believed that he charges Rs. 105 Crore per movie.
