Meghan Markle Criticized for Allegedly Passing Off Store-Bought Waffles as Homemade
“Social media users accuse the Duchess of Sussex of misleading followers with her latest Instagram post featuring ‘homemade’ green waffles.”

Meghan Markle has once again found herself in the middle of an online controversy—this time, over a seemingly harmless plate of green waffles. The Duchess of Sussex shared an Instagram Story on March 17, showcasing a St. Patrick’s Day-inspired breakfast she claimed to have made for Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie (5) and Princess Lilibet (3).

In the clip, Meghan was seen pouring green-colored batter into a waffle iron, with the final result being neatly plated waffles topped with whipped cream and kiwi slices.

However, keen-eyed social media users quickly pointed out inconsistencies between the video and the plated waffles. They observed that:
🔹 The waffle iron Meghan used was divided into four quarters, but the waffles she presented had no such divisions.
🔹 The final waffles closely resembled store-bought versions, leading to speculation that Meghan had plated pre-made waffles while implying she made them herself.
This sparked a wave of criticism online, with some users calling it “another fabricated detail” in Meghan’s carefully curated public image.
Social media erupted with reactions, questioning why Meghan would allegedly stage something as trivial as breakfast.
“I immediately saw the difference. What kind of person needs to lie about making waffles? Meghan Markle is a walking scam,” one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote.
“Why go through the effort of faking homemade waffles? This compulsive need to manipulate reality is deeply concerning,” another critic added.
Some even mocked the situation, saying:
“Imagine spending so much time staging a fake waffle breakfast—she can’t help herself!”
While some came to Meghan’s defense, calling the backlash “ridiculous”, others argued that it feeds into a pattern of alleged image manipulation by the Duchess.
This isn’t the first time Meghan has faced public scrutiny. Recently, she received a wave of backlash following her Netflix show’s poor reception. Many critics argue that her online presence often appears staged, making her the target of relentless social media skepticism.
Whether intentional or an innocent oversight, “Waffle-Gate” has once again placed Meghan Markle in the crosshairs of public debate—over something as seemingly insignificant as breakfast.
