Meghan Markle’s New Podcast Rekindles Queen Elizabeth’s Concerns, Say Royal Experts

Royal commentator claims Meghan’s commercial projects reflect the very “hybrid model” Queen Elizabeth opposed during the Sussexes’ royal exit.

April 9, 2025: Meghan Markle’s latest podcast has stirred fresh controversy — and according to royal experts, it’s echoing long-standing concerns once voiced by Queen Elizabeth II.

Royal commentator and author Phil Dampier, in a conversation on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show, addressed how Meghan’s new project, Confessions of a Female Founder, might be validating fears about the couple’s exit from royal duties.

The podcast touches on Meghan’s journey, parenting Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, dealing with the press, and carving her identity post-royalty. But Dampier believes the very nature of this commercial venture is what the late Queen had hoped to avoid.

“She saw the dangers of commercialising the Royal Family — of combining royal responsibilities with personal brand-building,” Dampier said. “That’s exactly what she advised them against when Harry and Meghan proposed a hybrid royal model.”

For context, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had initially suggested that they continue to support the monarchy while being financially independent — a plan that was ultimately rejected.

Adding fuel to the fire, Dampier referenced a recent polo charity event involving Prince Harry, alleging a breach of expectations.

“Dr. Chandauka thought it was about presenting a trophy for charity, but then Harry arrived with a Netflix crew. It turned into a production opportunity — again mixing royal appearances with commercial agendas.”

Dampier’s remarks come just after Prince Harry’s own testimony at the Royal Courts of Justice, where he stated that he and Meghan felt unprotected by the royal institution and sought to serve the Queen in a private capacity.

As Confessions of a Female Founder gains momentum, it appears the debate around the Sussexes’ public-private dynamic is far from over.
