Michael B. Jordan’s The Thomas Crown Affair Continues Despite Taylor Russell’s Exit

Due to creative differences, Taylor Russell exits The Thomas Crown Affair remake, with her role to be recast as production moves forward in London.

The Thomas Crown Affair remake, starring Michael B. Jordan, is forging ahead despite losing one of its key stars, Taylor Russell. The actress, known for her role in Bones and All, has reportedly departed the project due to creative differences. As the film is currently in production in London, Russell’s role will be recast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Details on the Film and Cast:
Directed by and starring Michael B. Jordan, The Thomas Crown Affair is a remake of the 1968 classic featuring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The film’s script, written by Drew Pearce (known for The Fall Guy and Hotel Artemis), follows an earlier draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. In addition to Jordan, the ensemble cast includes Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart. Jordan will also serve as one of the producers alongside Elizabeth Raposo, Patrick McCormick, and Marc Toberoff, while Alan Trustman, the writer of the original film, will serve as an executive producer.

Taylor Russell’s Future Projects:
Following her exit from The Thomas Crown Affair, Taylor Russell has several exciting projects on the horizon. She will star in Hope, a Korean thriller directed by Na Hong-jin, alongside Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, and Jung Ho-yeon. Additionally, Russell is set to co-star with David Jonsson in an upcoming Frank Ocean film. She is also in talks to star in a remake of Single White Female, where she would star opposite Jenna Ortega for 3000 Pictures.

Release Information:
Despite the casting change, The Thomas Crown Affair from Amazon MGM Studios is slated for theatrical release on March 5, 2027. The film remains a highly anticipated project, with Jordan at the helm both behind and in front of the camera.

The production of The Thomas Crown Affair continues to gain momentum, with Michael B. Jordan leading the way as director and star. Despite the loss of Taylor Russell, the film’s diverse and talented cast promises to bring a fresh perspective to this classic story. Fans can look forward to the film’s release in 2027, as Jordan’s vision takes shape on the big screen.
