What Is Motor Neurone Disease?

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a rare and progressive condition that affects the motor neurones — the nerves in the brain and spinal cord responsible for controlling muscle movement.

As the disease progresses, nerve damage prevents the brain from sending signals to muscles, leading to weakness, mobility issues and loss of movement. While there is currently no cure, treatments can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

The illness often reduces life expectancy, making early diagnosis and supportive care essential.
