May 8, 2025: Mika Singh, known for his chart-topping hits and outspoken personality, recently got candid about a deeply emotional moment that unfolded on a reality show stage.

During a podcast interview with journalist Shubhankar Mishra on YouTube, Mika reflected on how music often moves him to tears — even during performances — and how that vulnerability hasn’t always been met with kindness.

Recalling one particular incident, the Sawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag singer shared that he broke down while performing the iconic song Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. What made the moment even more memorable was that actress Priyanka Chopra was seated next to him. “I became happy listening to myself sing and started crying. Priyanka Chopra was beside me. Trolls said, ‘He can’t sing, that’s why he is crying.’ Now the whole industry cries on reality shows, but when I used to do that, people would ask me, ‘Why are you doing this?’” Mika explained.

He also admitted that he sometimes surprises himself with his singing abilities. “Sometimes I would cry listening to my songs. I think it’s age also. I cried after singing two lines of a song on a reality show. If I tell somebody, they won’t believe me. They will say, ‘Kaunsa tu Tansen ki aulad hai,’” he added humorously.

In the same conversation, Mika turned his attention to fellow singer Ankit Tiwari. Despite delivering blockbuster tracks like Sun Raha Hai Na Tu, Galliyan, and Dil Darbadar, Ankit’s career never soared to the heights many expected. Mika expressed confusion and disappointment over this, calling Tiwari one of the best voices in the industry.

“I have never understood why Ankit Tiwari didn’t make it big in Bollywood. To date, I still don’t understand why he didn’t get the opportunity that he deserves. He’s my favourite. The controversy might be one reason, but moving ahead after something like that becomes difficult,” Mika stated, likely referring to the 2014 legal issues Tiwari faced — from which he was later acquitted.

Mika concluded by praising Ankit’s undeniable talent and hit record. “He’s very talented, and his voice is absolutely beautiful. His songs were all super hits,” he said.

On the professional front, Mika Singh is now preparing for his acting stint in Welcome to the Jungle, the third film in the Welcome comedy franchise. The movie boasts a massive ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Disha Patani, Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon, and more.

With his emotional honesty and unwavering support for fellow artists, Mika Singh continues to carve a space in the industry as not just a hitmaker but also a rare, candid voice.
