Mika Singh Takes a Dig at Bipasha Basu’s Career: “Why Is She Sitting at Home Without Work?”
March 2, 2025: New Delhi: Bollywood playback singer Mika Singh has made a fresh remark on actress Bipasha Basu’s career, questioning why she is “sitting at home without work.” The actress, who has been absent from the big screen for the past five years, last appeared in the 2020 thriller Dangerous, alongside her husband, Karan Singh Grover. The show was directed by Bhushan Patel and produced by Mika Singh himself.

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Mika Singh opened up about his frustrating experience of working with the couple. “Why do you think they are out of work now? God is watching everything,” he remarked, implying that unprofessional behavior could be a reason for their career slump.

Mika revealed that Dangerous was initially meant to feature Karan Singh Grover with a different lead actress, but Bipasha insisted on being part of the project. This led to a budget escalation from ₹4 crore to ₹14 crore. He expressed regret over his decision to venture into production, stating, “The drama created by Bipasha ensured that I would always regret getting into production.”
The singer also alleged that Bipasha refused to do a planned kissing scene at the last minute, despite the script requiring it. “It was a husband-wife film, so obviously, there would be a kissing scene. The director and writer had already planned it, but Bipasha refused,” Mika explained.
Mika Singh further criticized actors who treat small producers differently than big filmmakers. “They are happy playing miniscule roles in a Dharma Productions film but won’t respect small-time producers who pay the same amount of money,” he said.
He also refuted rumors that he had defaulted on payments to Karan and Bipasha, but added that even getting the dubbing process done was a struggle. “Someone always had a sore throat. If it wasn’t Bipasha, it was Karan,” he recalled.
The singer didn’t hold back in his criticism of Bollywood’s attitude toward independent producers, pointing out that out-of-work actresses should respect those who offer them opportunities.
Mika Singh, best known for chartbusters like Subha Hone Na De, Mast Kalandar, Party To Banti Hai, and Heer Toh Badi Sad Hai, continues to make headlines not just for his music but also for his candid remarks on the industry.
