Described by Cyrus as “a unique visual experience fueled by fantasy” and “a one of a kind pop opera,” the album dives deep into themes like beauty, death, psychedelia, impermanence, heartbreak, and destruction. It showcases Cyrus’s artistic evolution and willingness to experiment with new sounds and narratives.

Cyrus explains that the album is about embracing difficult and painful experiences, “taking these experiences, even when they’re painful or we want to throw them away… and wrapping them in beautiful bows and ribbons,” turning hardship into something to appreciate.
