May 11, 2025: Miley Cyrus has addressed ongoing speculation about her family, making a rare public statement to clear the air about her relationship with her mother, Tish Cyrus, and father, Billy Ray Cyrus.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, the singer wrote, “I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us. She’s my best friend.”
Responding to speculation that Tish had unfollowed her on social media, Miley clarified it was nothing more than a digital mishap. “Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental, and uninteresting,” she added, as reported by People.
Cyrus also opened up about her evolving relationship with her father. “We’ve had our challenges over the years,” she acknowledged. “Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else. I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing.”
The Something Beautiful singer expressed gratitude for the renewed sense of unity, saying she’s thankful for the “good health and love that flows through my family.”
The Cyrus family has recently been the subject of public attention, particularly after Billy Ray’s controversial inauguration performance and an open letter from Trace Cyrus expressing concern over their father. Despite past tensions, a family insider revealed, “They got through the drama of 2024, and it’s a new year. They don’t want to be this Cyrus family feud. This is not enjoyable for them.”
Reflecting on her father’s influence, Miley said Billy Ray was a pivotal figure in shaping her career. “He gave me a map of what to do and what not to do. He’s guided me on both,” she said, adding with candid humor, “I also inherited the narcissism from my father.”
Still, she credits her mother as the foundational force in her life. “Honestly, my mom is my hero,” Miley said, underscoring the strong maternal bond that continues to define her personal and professional values.
