Mission Impossible 8 Box Office Day 2: Tom Cruise Film Races Ahead, Surpasses Thunderbolts’ Lifetime India Collection

Tom Cruise’s ‘The Final Reckoning’ earns ₹33 crore in just two days, outperforming several recent Marvel titles in India and heading toward the ₹50 crore milestone in its first week

May 19, 2025: Mission Impossible 8: The Final Reckoning continues its box office rampage in India. After a record-setting debut on Saturday, the film held firm on Sunday, earning another ₹16.5 crore, taking its two-day total to ₹33 crore, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.

The Tom Cruise-starrer has already surpassed the lifetime Indian collections of recent Marvel films, including Thunderbolts (₹22.5 crore) and Captain America: Brave New World (₹23 crore). The action-packed spy thriller has now collected nearly 30% of what Mission Impossible 7 made in its full run, and it’s on track to hit the ₹50 crore mark within the first week.

The real test will begin Monday when weekday footfalls typically drop, but strong reviews and word-of-mouth could ensure continued momentum.

While Indian audiences are already packing theatres, Mission Impossible 8 is yet to open in most major international markets, including the US, where it hits screens on May 23. Trade analysts expect it to be the first in the franchise to potentially cross the $1 billion global mark, given the critical acclaim and growing anticipation.

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film sees Tom Cruise reprise his role as Ethan Hunt. The ensemble cast includes Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Angela Bassett, Esai Morales, Henry Czerny, and others. The movie released in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu across Indian cinemas on May 17, under the banners of Paramount Pictures and Skydance.
