Celebrated bassist Mohini Dey, known for her long-standing collaborations with AR Rahman, has addressed rumors linking her separation from husband Mark Hartsuch to the recent announcement of AR Rahman and Saira Banu’s split after 29 years of marriage. Both announcements were made on November 20, sparking speculation online about a potential connection.
In an Instagram post shared on November 22, Mohini shut down the rumours firmly, saying,
“I’ve been getting a humongous amount of requests for interviews, and I know exactly what it’s about. I have to respectfully turn each one down because I am not interested in fueling into ABSOLUTE BS. I believe my energy is not worth spending on RUMOURS. Kindly, respect my privacy.”
AR Rahman’s son Ameen also addressed the speculations, condemning the baseless rumors and requesting privacy. In an Instagram story, he wrote:
“My father is a legend, not just for his incredible contributions, but for the values, respect, and love he has earned over the years. It’s disheartening to see false and baseless rumors being spread. Let’s honor and preserve his dignity and the incredible impact he has had on all of us.”
Vandana Shah, the lawyer representing Rahman and Saira Banu, also dismissed any connection between the two separations in an interview. She clarified,
“There is no connection at all. Saira and Mr. Rahman made this decision on their own.”
Mohini Dey, a highly acclaimed bassist, has been performing alongside AR Rahman for several years and has earned recognition for her exceptional talent. Her announcement of separation from her husband Mark Hartsuch coinciding with Rahman’s marital split has been misinterpreted, according to both parties involved.
