"Money Can’t Buy Taste": Jeff Bezos’ Wedding Invite Sparks Mockery Online
June 26, 2025 | The wedding bells may be ringing for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and former news anchor Lauren Sanchez, but their invitation has already become a viral internet joke. As the couple gears up for a grand ceremony on June 27 at San Giorgio Maggiore island in Venice, it’s not the luxury or the guest list making headlines—but the design of the wedding card.
A preview of the invite, first obtained by ABC News, revealed a colorful collage of butterflies, birds, feathers, and shooting stars in pink and blue on a white background. The reaction online was swift and savage.
“Looks like it was made in Microsoft Paint,” quipped one user on X (formerly Twitter). Another added, “This is what happens when billionaires think Canva is couture.”

Despite the mockery, the message in the card was heartfelt. The couple requested guests to refrain from bringing gifts, stating instead that donations would be made in their names to UNESCO’s Venice Office, CORILA (a lagoon restoration group), and local cultural preservation efforts.
“This magical place has gifted us unforgettable memories. Our hope is that through these efforts and by you joining us, Venice will continue to inspire wonder for generations to come,” the card read.
However, the noble sentiment couldn’t save the invitation from online roasting.
“That invite is atrocious,” wrote another user. “Obviously, money can’t buy taste or class.”
“It looks like an 11-year-old made it,” added someone else.
While early reports suggested the celebration would run from June 24–26, new information places the main ceremony on June 27, with festivities aboard Bezos’ superyacht Koru docked in Venice. Local authorities have confirmed preparations for an opulent affair spanning three days, drawing celebrities, dignitaries, and tech titans.

Despite the backlash over their wedding invite design, excitement around the Bezos-Sanchez nuptials remains sky-high. And while money can’t buy class, it certainly throws a memorable wedding.
