MS Dhoni Tops Endorsement Charts, Surpassing Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in 2024

December 10, 2024: MS Dhoni Outshines Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in Brand Endorsements with Record Deals

Four years after retiring from international cricket, MS Dhoni remains one of the most sought-after personalities in India. Though his on-field appearances are now limited to the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he represents Chennai Super Kings (CSK), his influence off the field has only grown.

In the first half of 2024, Dhoni set a new benchmark by surpassing Bollywood legends Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in brand endorsements, according to a report by TAM Media Research, a joint venture of Nielsen (USA) and Kantar (UK). Dhoni signed an impressive 42 brand deals during this period, outpacing Amitabh Bachchan by one and Shah Rukh Khan by eight.

Among the brands Dhoni represents are industry giants like Eurogrip Tyres, Gulf Oil, Cleartrip, MasterCard, Citroën, Lay’s, and Garuda Aerospace. His consistent appeal to advertisers highlights his unique ability to connect with audiences across demographics, making him a trusted face for endorsements.

On the cricketing front, Dhoni stepped down from CSK’s captaincy after leading the team to its fifth IPL title in 2023. He was succeeded by Ruturaj Gaikwad, whose first season as captain saw CSK miss out on a playoff spot.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Dhoni has been retained by CSK for ₹4 crore as an uncapped player under a new IPL rule that allows franchises to retain players who have not played international cricket for five years. Alongside Dhoni, CSK also retained Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Matheesha Pathirana, and Shivam Dube.

The IPL 2025 mega auction is set to take place in Jeddah on November 24 and 25, with all ten franchises gearing up to strengthen their squads. Despite his reduced on-field presence, the 43-year-old former India captain continues to remain a vital figure in cricket and beyond, proving that his legacy transcends the sport.
