An early first look has been revealed for the upcoming Disney movie ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’.
The Studios released the first official teaser image as part of Disney’s 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
“Mufasa: The Lion King” is a prequel to the 2019 “live-action” remake of “The Lion King.” The 2019 film was directed by Iron Man’ Jon Favreau and earned over $1.6 billion globally.
The new film ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ will be helmed by Academy Award-winning director and screenwriter Barry Jenkins.
It will follow the younger years of Simba’s father Mufasa (Aaron Pierre), featuring the return of Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, and John Kani as Rafiki. Scar, his brother, will presumably be the film’s villain once again.
There are no supporting characters in the image and shows a young Mufasa looking out over the Pride Lands, which he will later pass to his son Simba. He is shown looking out over the land alone, without any of the new or returning characters that are set to appear in the movie
Not much is known about the film, other than that it is an origin story for Simba’s father and no footage other than the first look has been released so far.
‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ is likely to hit theatres on December 20, 2024.
