Mufasa: The Lion King Ticket Sales in India-Deets Inside

Shah Rukh Khan’s voiceover for Mufasa drives massive ticket sales, overshadowing Vijay Sethupathi’s Viduthalai Part 2 on BookMyShow.

December 20, 2024: December is shaping up to be a blockbuster month for the Indian box office, with Pushpa 2 leading the charge and new contenders like Mufasa: The Lion King and Viduthalai Part 2 drawing significant ticket sales on BookMyShow (BMS).

While both films are performing well, Mufasa: The Lion King has taken a commanding lead with a 50% higher ticket sales rate than Viduthalai Part 2.

Ticket Sales Battle: Mufasa vs. Viduthalai 2

Viduthalai 2, directed by Vetrimaaran and starring Vijay Sethupathi and Soori, recorded approximately 35,000 ticket sales on Thursday, December 19, from 9 AM to 10 PM. This translates to an average of 2,600 tickets per hour.

Meanwhile, Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King, featuring Shah Rukh Khan as the voice of Mufasa and Aryan Khan as Simba, registered a whopping 46,000 ticket sales during the same time frame. With an average of 3,583 tickets sold per hour, the Hollywood blockbuster has surged ahead, securing a solid foothold in the Indian market.


The Appeal of Mufasa: The Lion King

The key driver behind Mufasa: The Lion King‘s success in India is the star-studded voice cast, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan, and AbRam Khan in the Hindi version, and Mahesh Babu in the Telugu dub. The film’s connection to the globally beloved Lion King franchise has also helped it capture audience interest.

About Viduthalai 2

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran, Viduthalai Part 2 is the sequel to the Tamil period crime thriller Viduthalai Part 1. The film follows the journey of a police constable assigned to capture the leader of a separatist group. Despite being a regional film, it has managed to carve its niche amidst stiff competition.


Pushpa 2 Roars On

While both Mufasa and Viduthalai 2 have been performing well, Pushpa 2 remains the undisputed king at the box office. On its 15th day, the film registered a staggering 196,000 ticket sales on BMS between 7 AM and 10 PM, showcasing its continued dominance.
