Mumbai Police Confirms Strong Evidence Against Accused in Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case

Authorities shut down rumors about fingerprint mismatch, reveal details of accused’s entry into India and investigation progress.

Mumbai, January 28: The Mumbai Police announced on Tuesday that they have gathered substantial evidence against Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, the accused in the stabbing case involving actor Saif Ali Khan. The police also confirmed that the accused entered India from Bangladesh and resided in multiple locations across Kolkata before traveling to Mumbai.

During a press conference, Paramjit Singh Dahiya, Additional Commissioner of Police, dismissed rumors regarding fingerprint mismatches and emphasized the strength of the evidence against the accused.

“We have collected oral, physical, and technical evidence against the accused. Rest assured, we have apprehended the right person,” said Dahiya.

Details of the Attack

Earlier this month, Saif Ali Khan sustained stab wounds to his thoracic spine and other body parts during a violent altercation with Shehzad, who had reportedly broken into the actor’s Bandra home with the intent to steal. Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for emergency surgery and was discharged last week.

Upon his return home, the actor greeted media personnel gathered outside his Bandra residence.

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Statement

Saif’s wife, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, issued a heartfelt statement requesting privacy during this challenging time for their family.

“It has been an incredibly challenging day for our family, and we are still trying to process the events that have unfolded,” Kareena said.

She further urged the media and paparazzi to respect their boundaries and refrain from relentless speculation and coverage.

“While we appreciate the concern and support, the constant scrutiny and attention are not only overwhelming but also pose a significant risk to our safety. We kindly request space to heal and cope as a family,” she added, thanking the public for their understanding.

Investigation Updates

Mumbai Police revealed that the accused had planned the burglary extensively and had stayed in Kolkata for several days before arriving in Mumbai. They assured the public that the case is being handled with the utmost diligence and that all necessary evidence has been collected to ensure justice is served.

The case continues to attract widespread media attention as investigations progress, with fans and well-wishers sending their support to Saif and his family.
