Mumbai Police Files 1,000-Page Chargesheet in Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case

The chargesheet includes forensic evidence and fingerprint analysis linking accused Shehzad to the January 16 attack on the Bollywood star at his Bandra residence.

April 9, 2025: In a major development in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case, Mumbai’s Bandra Police have submitted a detailed 1,000-page chargesheet in court, compiling extensive evidence against the prime accused, Shehzad alias Shariful Islam.

The actor was attacked on January 16, when Shehzad allegedly attempted to rob Khan’s Bandra residence and ended up stabbing the Bollywood star. Saif was severely injured, with damage to his thoracic spine and other areas. He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he remained under care for five days before being discharged on January 21.

According to Mumbai Police, the chargesheet includes:

• Forensic lab reports confirming that knife fragments found at the scene, in Saif’s body, and in the accused’s possession were all part of the same weapon.
• Fingerprint analysis matching the accused’s left hand to prints recovered from the scene.
• Detailed information on the movement and background of the accused, who reportedly entered India from Bangladesh, lived temporarily in Kolkata, and eventually reached Mumbai.

The police believe that Shehzad broke into the residence with the intent to rob but ended up violently attacking the actor when confronted.

This chilling incident shocked Bollywood and raised serious concerns about celebrity security. With the chargesheet now filed, the case is set to move into its trial phase.
