May 2, 2025: South superstar Nagarjuna has praised the ongoing WAVES 2025 summit, calling it a “great initiative” by the Government of India for the film and media industry. The summit, held in Mumbai, focuses on entertainment, media, and digital innovation, bringing together industry leaders and creators from around the globe.

Nagarjuna expressed his excitement about attending the event and highlighted its significance for the Indian entertainment sector. “I am very happy to attend, and it’s a great initiative by the government of India that is for the film media industry. It’s a grand global launch,” he said. Nagarjuna, who participated in a panel discussion on day two of the summit alongside actor Anupam Kher and other industry experts, emphasized the importance of such forums for the future of global entertainment collaborations.

Anupam Kher, the legendary actor, also shared his thoughts on the summit, calling it a “historic” event. He drew comparisons between WAVES 2025 and the World Economic Forum in Davos, stating that the summit would play a crucial role in the coming years in fostering collaboration between countries. “It is going to be historical like the Economic Forum in Davos. It will play a big role in the coming years, and it will gather all people from all over the world. It will include entertainers, writers, and artists. The Prime Minister himself has initiated it, and the Ministry of Information Broadcasting and the Maharashtra Government have also initiated too,” Kher explained.

He further mentioned that WAVES 2025 would help increase the potential for entertainment collaborations between countries, including significant players like Japan and China. This international cooperation could open doors for fresh opportunities in both the film and digital media sectors.

WAVES 2025 is a global summit that has attracted participants from over 90 countries. More than 10,000 delegates, 1,000 creators, and 300+ companies are part of the event, which is set to feature 42 plenary sessions, 39 breakout sessions, and 32 masterclasses. These sessions will span various sectors, including broadcasting, infotainment, AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics), films, and digital media, showcasing the future of these industries.
