Namita Thapar Makes Grand Entrance at Cannes Film Festival

Entrepreneur extraordinaire and ‘Shark Tank India’ judge, Namita Thapar, dazzled at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, marking her debut at the esteemed event. Attending the premiere of the highly anticipated film, ‘Furiosa A Mad Max Saga,’ Thapar graced the French Riviera in style.

Sharing glimpses of her Cannes experience on Instagram, Thapar exuded elegance in a ruffled, off-the-shoulder gown designed by Lebanese fashion maestro Elio Abou Fayssal. Her stunning appearance drew admiration from fans and followers, who praised her for breaking stereotypes about entrepreneurs.

The Cannes Film Festival, known for its glamour and cinematic excellence, witnessed the presence of several Indian luminaries, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Sobhita Dhulipala, adding to the festivities and global representation.

Amidst the glitz and glamour, the inauguration of the Bharat Pavilion at Cannes further showcased India’s commitment to showcasing its rich cinematic heritage and fostering international collaborations. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, the pavilion served as a hub for networking, collaboration, and promotion of Indian cinema on the global stage.

Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, emphasized the significance of India’s presence at Cannes, highlighting the country’s soft power through cinema and its role in the international arena. Filmmaker Richie Mehta echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging the pivotal role of film festivals in shaping careers and promoting cultural exchange.

Jawed Ashraf, Ambassador of India to France, underscored India’s rising global stature, emphasizing its philosophical contributions and geopolitical significance. As part of its engagement at Cannes, India hosted the Bharat Parv for the first time, providing a platform to engage with film industry stakeholders and showcase the nation’s creative talent.

At the Bharat Parv, attendees had the opportunity to witness the unveiling of the official poster and trailer of the 55th India International Film Festival (IFFI), scheduled to be held in Goa later in the year. The event served as a testament to India’s burgeoning presence on the global cinematic stage and its commitment to fostering cultural exchange and collaboration.
