Actor Neena Gupta recently opened up about a past engagement that ended abruptly over what she describes as a “silly reason,” revealing how she responded when the fiancé tried to come back six months later.

Speaking to Humans of Bombay, Neena reflected on how much her life has been shaped by adapting to circumstances rather than always making conscious choices about marriage or motherhood. She recalled:

“I was engaged to one guy who ditched me at the last minute. I was set to have a kid, had the ring, and had gone to Delhi to buy jewellery and clothes. Suddenly, I got a call from him that he is not going ahead with it.”

The reason? Her fiancé claimed he needed sinus surgery, which Neena considered minor enough to postpone. She added:

“He said he needs to undergo a sinus operation. I said, it’s not a very major issue and can be done later too. I kept asking his parents what had happened, and to this date, I still don’t know why he did it. When he came back after six months or something and said, ‘I wanna marry you,’ I said, f**k off. Now I don’t.”
