Neha Dhupia Wears Late Father-In-Law Bishan Singh Bedi’s Sweater At Ind Vs Aus Match In Sydney

January 3, 2025: Neha Dhupia recently shared an emotional tribute to her late father-in-law, the legendary cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, while attending the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. The actress and her husband, Angad Bedi, are currently in Australia, where they are not only enjoying the action of the Test match but also honoring Bedi’s memory in a deeply personal way.

Neha paid tribute to the iconic cricketer by wearing his Test cricket sweater, a special gift he had given her at her wedding. In an Instagram post, she shared the emotional significance of the gesture, writing:

“Wearing this sweater has a different kind of warmth…I remember so clearly when dad asked what would u like as a wedding present, I asked him for his test cricket sweater and how it would be the most special gift for me… so here it is, along with his strength, resilience, integrity, and generosity, I also feel a sense of honour donning this while watching my first test in person… with my @angadbedi We miss you everyday dad.”

Neha’s heartfelt post resonated with her followers, and it quickly garnered an outpouring of love and support. Saba Pataudi, daughter of former cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, also commented on the post, reflecting on the special bond shared by their families. She wrote, “Precious gift of all I miss Bishan uncle n Abba loads. They’re watching over us… and def discussing these matches!!”

Bishan Singh Bedi, a left-arm spinner renowned for his graceful bowling action and tremendous success, passed away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 77. He had represented India in 67 Tests and 10 ODIs, taking a combined total of 273 wickets. Known for his deep understanding of the game, Bedi was one of the finest spinners in cricket history. He was also a captain for India, leading the team in 22 Tests, including India’s first-ever ODI in 1975, and became the highest wicket-taker in India’s Test cricket history at the time of his retirement.

Beyond his on-field accomplishments, Bedi was deeply respected for his leadership, discipline, and character, both as a cricketer and a mentor. His cricketing legacy continues to inspire generations, and his contribution to Indian cricket was recognized with honors such as the Padma Shri in 1970 and the CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.

Through this gesture, Neha Dhupia has beautifully honored her father-in-law’s memory and celebrated his lasting influence, both in the world of cricket and within her family.
