On Wednesday night, December 31, 2025 (early morning January 1, 2026, in India), the streaming giant experienced a brief but widespread outage as fans worldwide rushed to stream the series finale of Stranger Things.

The final chapter, titled “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up,” went live at 8:00 PM ET / 6:30 AM IST, prompting a surge in traffic that led to immediate technical difficulties for thousands of subscribers.

The “Nailed It” Error Returns

As millions attempted to hit play on the final battle for Hawkins, they were greeted by the now-infamous error message featuring an image from the show Nailed It!:

“Something went wrong. Sorry, we’re having trouble with your request. You’ll find lots to explore on the home page.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the crash was short-lived, with service largely restored within five to ten minutes after a few page refreshes. This marks the second time the fifth season has overwhelmed the platform, following a similar outage during the Volume 1 launch on November 26.

A Season of Three Parts: The Road to the End

Netflix took a unique approach for the final season, splitting the eight episodes into three distinct release windows to maximize the global “event” feel.
