Netflix Greenlights Animated ‘Clash of Clans’ Series, Expanding Supercell's Hit Franchise
May 21, 2025: Netflix is diving into the world of mobile gaming with a new animated series based on Supercell’s blockbuster titles Clash of Clans and Clash Royale.
The yet-untitled series will chronicle the journey of a spirited but overwhelmed Barbarian who teams up with a group of quirky misfits to protect their village—all while navigating the chaotic and often absurd politics of warfare. Known for its blend of humor, strategy, and explosive action, the series aims to bring the beloved in-game universe to life for fans old and new.

The project is helmed by showrunner Fletcher Moules, who previously collaborated with Supercell on several viral YouTube animated shorts, amassing hundreds of millions of views. Ron Weiner, whose credits include Futurama and Silicon Valley, will serve as head writer, ensuring the show retains the sharp wit and fast-paced energy that fans expect.
Animation duties will be led by ICON Creative Studio, according to Variety.
With over four billion downloads and a staggering 180 billion hours of gameplay logged globally, the Clash franchise remains one of the most successful mobile gaming series in history. This adaptation marks a major step in its expansion beyond gaming screens and into narrative storytelling.
This announcement follows a series of animated projects recently greenlit by Netflix, including Mating Season, an adult comedy from the creators of Big Mouth, and Long Story Short, a new series from BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, set to premiere on August 22.
