The trailer for the fourth installment of the adult-comedy franchise failed to impress many on social media, prompting director Milap Zaveri to respond by promising “a very strong role and POV” for the film’s female characters.

November 5, 2025: The release of the Masti 4 trailer on Tuesday, featuring the franchise’s original trio Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, and Riteish Deshmukh, has quickly generated controversy and a wave of negative reactions on social media, with many netizens labeling the content “cheap” and “disgusting.”

High expectations for the franchise film were quickly met with disappointment, leading a female netizen to launch a scathing critique on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). She wrote:

“How do they face the females in their house after doing such films, you will never know. If DISGUST was a genre, this trailer is the topper. Full confidence in our janta to watch & have no issues with the content. Arrey it’s just ‘fun’ yaar (sic).”

Director Zaveri Hits Back, Promises Strong Female Roles

The sharp criticism prompted a rare defense from the film’s director, Milap Zaveri, who has replaced Indra Kumar for this installment. Zaveri quote-tweeted the user’s critique with a respectful but firm plea to reserve judgment until the film’s release.

Director Milap Zaveri: “Mam pls do see the film. You may be pleasantly surprised. Women have a v strong role and POV (sic).”

Zaveri’s response hints that Masti 4 may deviate from the misogynistic undertones often criticized in the adult-comedy genre and offer a more substantial narrative for its female cast members, which includes Nargis Fakhri, Ruhii Singh, Shreya Sharma, Elnaaz Norouzi, and Natalia Janoszek.

A Crowded Release for the Comedy Trio

Despite the trailer backlash, the film is set to hit theaters on November 21, 2025, facing a highly competitive box office clash. Masti 4 will not enjoy a solo release, as it squares off against several other major films scheduled for the same date:

  • 120 Bahadur: A period war drama starring Farhan Akhtar.
  • Haunted 3D: Ghosts Of The Past: The latest horror venture from Vikram Bhatt.
  • Gustaakh Ishq: A romantic drama produced by Manish Malhotra.

The film’s performance will depend on whether the franchise’s established audience can look past the trailer’s perceived “vulgarity” and embrace Zaveri’s promised “strong POV” for the female characters.
