May 19, 2025: Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman has shared exciting details about the much-anticipated sequel to the cult-favorite romantic comedy ‘Practical Magic’, which will reunite her with Sandra Bullock. The sequel, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Susanne Bier, is officially slated for release on September 18, 2026.
Kidman described the upcoming film as “fun and witchy”, emphasizing the strong creative chemistry between her, Bullock, and Bier. “It’s a perfect triangle,” she said, highlighting their shared history and collaborative energy, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Beyond the film, Kidman continues to champion female directors, a mission she committed to years ago. Originally aiming to work with one female director every 18 months, Kidman has far exceeded that goal—collaborating with 27 women directors to date.
“I was going to make it possible,” Kidman said, underlining her passion for creative experimentation and boundary-pushing roles. “At this stage of my life, I’m not looking to play it safe. I’m looking for stories that challenge me and filmmakers who want to explore uncharted territory.”
Kidman will be honored with the Kering Women in Motion Award, recognizing her profound impact on amplifying women’s voices in cinema.
She also touched on her recent project ‘Babygirl’, directed by Halina Reijn, which unexpectedly went viral on TikTok. Kidman praised the power of social media in modern film promotion, calling the film’s popularity “thrilling.”
Looking ahead, Kidman hinted at a new, deeply intense role she’s currently considering, describing it as “incredibly disturbing”—the kind of challenge that excites her. She also shared insight into her artistic process, revealing she often writes down dreams and ideas during 3 a.m. creative bursts. “I wake up and I’ll write something—something in my head, my heart, or my life at that time,” she said.
With ‘Practical Magic 2’ on the horizon and a fearless approach to storytelling, Kidman continues to redefine what it means to be a dynamic force in Hollywood.
