April 25, 2025: Comedian Nikki Glaser brought her signature humor to the TIME100 Gala in New York City, where she addressed the recent backlash surrounding the controversial Blue Origin space flight — and made it clear that she has no desire to join the ranks of celebrity space travelers.

While speaking to E! News, Glaser, who was named to the TIME100 Most Influential People of 2025 list, poked fun at the trending topic. “Just kidding, no, no, I do not want to go to space,” she said with a laugh. “Not only because of the backlash I will face, but I just have no interest in going to space.”

Her comments come in the wake of criticism aimed at the high-profile Blue Origin mission, which was promoted as the first all-female space flight. Celebrities and the public alike have called out the venture for being out of touch, with Olivia Munn labeling it “a bit gluttonous,” and Emily Ratajkowski questioning the resources spent on such trips.

Instead of space exploration, Glaser shared that she has more grounded aspirations. “I want to enjoy the riches of my success. I think I’ve been just trying to maintain it, like ‘don’t go away,’ and I haven’t like really enjoyed any of it,” she said. The comedian recently had a standout year, hosting the 2025 Golden Globes and expanding into music and photography.

Glaser wasn’t alone in poking fun at the situation. Fellow comedian Amy Schumer also took a jab at the extravagant trip, while actual Blue Origin passengers Katy Perry and Gayle King addressed the backlash with grace and humor. Perry alluded to the criticism at a concert by asking fans if anyone had ever called their dreams “crazy,” and King jokingly embraced memes that captured her terrified reaction during liftoff.

Despite the firestorm, Glaser’s lighthearted take served as a refreshing reminder that not every star is eager to shoot for the stars—especially if it means dodging internet outrage along the way.
