‘No Complaints Received..’: Dharma Productions Reacts to Homebound DOP Pratik Shah Allegations

May 31, 2025: Amid serious allegations of inappropriate behavior and abuse against Homebound cinematographer Pratik Shah, Dharma Productions has issued an official statement, asserting that no complaints were made during the shoot of the film.

Shah, whose work on Homebound recently garnered global attention after the film received a nine-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival, deleted his Instagram account following social media accusations. The film, which features Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa, is the only Indian feature this year to screen in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section.

Dharma Productions, one of the key producers of the film, responded with a statement clarifying Shah’s limited association with the project and reaffirming their internal protocols. “At Dharma Productions, we have a zero tolerance policy against inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment towards any individual working with us in any capacity,” the statement read. “Mr. Pratik Shah was a freelancer on the project Homebound and was working on it for a limited period. His engagement with us has been completed. During this limited period, our internal committee for POSH didn’t receive any complaints against him from any cast or crew.”

The allegations surfaced after filmmaker Abhinav Singh took to Instagram to warn others about Shah’s behavior. “So many women reached out to me sharing their experiences,” he wrote, claiming Shah had exhibited predatory behavior. Filmmaker and writer Srishti Riya Jain also shared screenshots and testimonies, alleging a pattern of misconduct dating back four years.

While the accusations have not yet resulted in formal legal action, the industry is once again grappling with calls for greater accountability, especially in high-profile projects.

Homebound is backed by Dharma Productions, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, with international co-producers Marijke de Souza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier.
