Revanth Reddy meets Telugu film industry leaders, emphasising public safety and accountability after the tragic Pushpa 2 stampede incident.
December 26, 2024: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy held a crucial meeting with prominent figures from the Telugu Film Industry on Thursday, addressing the fallout from the tragic Pushpa 2: The Rule stampede incident earlier this month. The meeting comes after rising tensions between the state government and the film fraternity following the death of a 35-year-old woman and injuries sustained by her 8-year-old son during the chaotic premiere event.

Actor Allu Arjun, who was present at the event, was arrested on December 13, further intensifying the situation. The Chief Minister made it clear that there would be “no compromise on law and order” and emphasized that public safety remains the state’s utmost priority.
Focus on Accountability and Reforms
The meeting, attended by Telangana State Film Development Corporation (TSFDC) chairman Dil Raju, aimed to establish clear communication channels between the government and the film industry. Dil Raju highlighted that the discussions were intended to foster “healthy relations” and ensure better safety protocols for future events.
CM Revanth Reddy reiterated that while the Telugu film industry is an integral part of the state’s cultural and economic identity, it must operate with greater accountability and responsibility in organizing large-scale public events.

Industry’s Response and Commitment
During the meeting, film producers, actors, and stakeholders expressed their commitment to working closely with the government to avoid such tragic incidents in the future. Dil Raju assured the Chief Minister that event management guidelines would be revisited and strictly enforced.
Addressing the Pushpa 2 Incident
The Pushpa 2 screening tragedy has been a turning point, not just for the film’s stakeholders but also for the larger entertainment industry in the region. The event, which drew thousands of fans eager to see their favorite star Allu Arjun, lacked adequate crowd control measures, leading to the unfortunate loss of life and several injuries.
The Telangana government is expected to introduce stricter safety regulations for film-related public events, including better crowd management protocols and mandatory emergency response plans.
A Path Forward
This high-stakes meeting signals a turning point for government-industry relations in Telangana, with both parties acknowledging the need for improved coordination and safety measures. The CM concluded the meeting with a firm note: “While we celebrate our cinema, we cannot forget our responsibility towards the safety of the people who support it.”
As the investigation continues and preparations for the film’s wider release unfold, the industry faces an important moment of reflection and reform.
