The special premieres on June 8 on National Geographic and JioCinema/Disney+ Hotstar.

The documentary aims to raise critical awareness about ocean conservation and the role each one of us can play in protecting marine ecosystems. In the film, Attenborough takes viewers on a breathtaking journey through the wonders of the deep sea, showcasing epic migrations, fascinating creatures, and complex underwater ecosystems.

Reflecting on decades of oceanic exploration, Attenborough says,“My lifetime has coincided with the great age of ocean discovery… In this film, we share those wonderful discoveries, uncover why our ocean is in such poor health, and, perhaps most importantly, show how it can bounce back to life.”

This marks Attenborough’s first-ever collaboration with National Geographic, promising a landmark experience for audiences around the globe.

National Geographic’s EVP, Tom McDonald, expressed his excitement, saying, “There is no one better to deliver this message than Sir David.”

Alok Jain, President of JioStar Entertainment, emphasized how vital ocean conservation is to India:“India’s 11,000 km coastline supports vibrant marine life and millions of livelihoods. This is not just a global story—it’s our story too.”

The documentary also features never-before-seen footage of bottom trawling, revealing its destructive impact on the seabed and marine biodiversity.
