Rapper Offset was spotted outside a Florida medical facility on Wednesday morning, appearing in public for the first time since being shot in the leg on Monday night. The 34-year-old artist, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was seen seated in an ICU wheelchair while being accompanied by his mother, Latabia Woodward, and a hospital staff member.
Dressed in a standard hospital gown and grey socks, the former Migos member appeared visibly distressed but remained engaged in conversation. At one point, Offset was seen lifting his gown to show a hospital worker the injury on his left thigh. Despite the medical setting, the rapper was observed smoking a cigarette as he recovered from the violent encounter.
The incident occurred late Monday night in the valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. According to law enforcement, the shooting erupted during an “affray” or physical fight. While the situation escalated to gunfire, representatives for the rapper have confirmed that Offset is currently in stable condition and is being closely monitored by medical professionals.
Arrests and Legal Clarifications
In the wake of the altercation, rapper Lil Tjay (Tione Jayden Merritt) was arrested and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct-affray. He was booked into the Broward County Jail with a bond set at $500. However, his legal team has moved quickly to distance the artist from the actual shooting.
“Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false,” stated attorney Dawn Florio via Instagram.
While two individuals have been detained, authorities have yet to officially identify the shooter. Witnesses at the scene noted that prior to the chaos, Offset had been in high spirits, interacting with fans and appearing “relaxed and friendly” before the confrontation began.
