OG Producers Face Online Ridicule for Mocking Petitioner

OG Producers Face Online Ridicule for Mocking Petitioner in Ticket Price Hike Case

DVV Entertainment, the production house behind Pawan Kalyan’s recent blockbuster OG, faced a wave of online ridicule after posting—and quickly deleting—a sarcastic tweet directed at the petitioner who challenged the film’s proposed ticket price hike.

The controversy arose amid a legal tussle at the Telangana High Court. The court on Monday extended its interim order, which suspends the ticket price hike for OG. This means theaters in Telangana were prevented from adding a “blockbuster charge” to tickets, forcing the price to remain at the normal rate for the action thriller.

Production House Mocks Petitioner, Then Retracts

On Monday, DVV Entertainment posted a sarcastic tweet on X (formerly Twitter) targeting the individual who moved the High Court, Barla Mallesh Yadav. Yadav had argued that the proposed hike would make the film too expensive for the average moviegoer.

The now-deleted tweet read: “Telangana HC extends interim order suspending the #TheyCallHimOG ticket price memo, applicable only to petitioner Barla Mallesh Yadav. So we’re offering him a ₹100 discount on his ticket at any Nizam theatre!”

The production house even added a direct, taunting message: “Mallesh garu, hope you also enjoy the film like our fans did (heart emoji).”

Internet Roasts OG Makers After Court Ruling

The production house quickly took down the tweet after it became apparent that the High Court’s order extending the suspension applied to all of Telangana, not just the petitioner.

This prompt deletion fueled widespread mocking and ridicule on the internet, with screenshots of the tweet circulating on platforms like Reddit.

  • One commenter lamented, “When you seek more than mere entertainment from movies, you are more likely to be mocked by the people who should entertain you.”
  • Another simply called it an “egg on face moment.”
  • Many netizens declared the final score of the exchange as “DVV-0, Yadav garu-1,” signifying the petitioner’s silent victory in the legal and public relations battle.

OG Box Office Update

Despite the controversy and the suspension of the ticket price hike, OG, directed by Sujeeth, has performed exceptionally well at the box office since its release last Thursday. The film, which stars Pawan Kalyan as the titular gangster Ojas Gambheera alongside Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Mohan, Sriya Reddy, Arjun Das, and Prakash Raj, has earned over ₹147 crore net domestically and ₹265 crore gross worldwide. It is currently the highest-grossing Telugu film of the year and the highest-grossing film of Pawan Kalyan’s career.
