December 7, 2024: Actor Emma Dumont, who gained recognition for their role as Jackie Oppenheimer in the Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer, has come out as trans-masculine and non-binary.

According to a representative, Dumont will now go by the name Nick and use they/them pronouns in their personal life. However, they will continue to use the name Emma Dumont professionally, maintaining their established identity in the entertainment industry.

In a personal update, Dumont changed their Instagram bio to include the playful message: “Only call me Nick if ur cool okay?” They also shared a series of photos earlier this week, including a bathroom selfie and a picture of themselves holding a guitar.

Nick’s next project is the thriller New Me, which is currently in post-production.

Dumont, who has been active in the entertainment industry since 2009, has appeared in more than 25 projects. They are perhaps best known for portraying Polaris in Marvel’s The Gifted and for their guest appearance on Pretty Little Liars. Their portrayal of Jackie Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer brought them significant recognition and praise this year.

The term “trans-masculine” refers to individuals assigned female at birth (AFAB) who identify with masculinity, which can include transgender males and AFAB nonbinary people. Dumont has yet to make a public statement directly addressing their coming out, but the announcement is a significant step in their personal and professional journey.

This marks an important moment in the entertainment world, as more actors and artists are embracing and sharing their gender identities, contributing to broader conversations around gender inclusivity and representation in Hollywood.
