Shahid Kapoor–Triptii Dimri starrer sees sharp Monday dip despite festive release window

February 17, 2026: O’Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, released on February 13 to cash in on the Valentine’s Day weekend. The film opened with Rs 8.5 crore and saw a jump to Rs 12.65 crore on February 14. On Sunday, despite Maha Shivratri festivities and the India–Pakistan T20 World Cup Group A clash impacting footfalls in some regions, it managed to stay close to Rs 9 crore. However, the momentum slowed on its first Monday, with collections dropping 47.22 per cent to Rs 4.75 crore, taking its total nett India earnings to Rs 34.9 crore so far.

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and backed by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film has shown relatively better performance in Triptii’s filmography, emerging as her fourth-highest-grossing release till date. However, it has not yet entered the list of Shahid Kapoor’s top-grossing Hindi films. Inspired by a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, the film also features Vikrant Massey, Tamannaah Bhatia, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal and Nana Patekar in key roles.

On Monday, O’Romeo recorded an overall occupancy of 11.62 per cent, with morning shows at 7.12 per cent, afternoon at 11.92 per cent, evening at 11.53 per cent, and night shows peaking at 15.89 per cent. Mounted on a reported budget of Rs 130 crore, the film has yet to recover even half its cost after four days in theatres. Trade observers note that unless weekday collections stabilise, the romantic drama could face an uphill task in reaching the safe zone at the box office.
